Roto-Finish P-51D Mustang.
The Roto-Finish P-51 was a North American P-51D Mustang NL7715C, original serial number 44-84961. It raced from 1966 to 1973 under the names Miss R.J. and Roto-Finish Special, winning Unlimited Gold in 1972. In February 1974 it was purchased by Ed Browning of Red Baron Flying Service in Idaho Falls, Idaho and renamed the Red Baron.
Thanks to Doug Kaye (DHK79) for the model.
Various modifications for RF 7.5 for realistic model flight characteristics. Powered by a high performance electric motor spinning an appropriate 4 blade propeller. Modified paint scheme.
Standard flight controls including landing flaps.
As usual fly with the channel 5 rate switch in the “High” position.
Landing flaps are on the channel 6 Interlink rotary knob.
As with all highly modified experimental aircraft (full or model sized), they each have their own quirks, and this model is no exception. It is finely balanced which will require the use of full up elevator when taxiing around. Judicious use of the up elevator will be required for take offs. Landings are fairly decent with or without flaps. The model handles well in the air. This is a fairly unique model worth having a look at.
