One of the most outstanding aircraft of the Golden Age of Aviation was the 1934 Ryan Sports Trainer (Ryan ST) and the 1935 Ryan ST-A (‘A’ being for aerobatic).

The Ryan ST-A would go on to set various records, which include flying from California to the east coast of the USA in 22 hours and 6 minutes, which became a light plane record. In Florida, the Ryan ST-A set a light plane altitude record by climbing to 19,800 feet (6,035 meters). The Ryan ST-A would also prove itself by winning the International Aerobatic Championship. The Ryan Aeronautical Company sold good numbers of ST-As during its 10 years of production. The Ryan ST-A format would be the foundation for other great aircraft that would follow.

Boof69 did a nice job of creating the model and colour scheme.

Data provided by a Ryan ST-A Operation and Service Manual was used to create revised flight physics.

Even though RealFlight has a Ryan ST-A and it's fun to fly, some visual as well as physical aspects were not addressed. The original RealFlight supplied smaller version lacks guy wires and flaps and has some other minor missing details. This larger model variant is a case of where bigger flies better.

This model features:

Flaps............................................... Channel 8 (3 pos)
Smoke............................................. Channel 7 (Smoke/retracts)
Functioning elevator trim tabs........ Channel 6 (knob)

Fly with the rate switch in the "high" position.

Before take off center the elevator trim tab channel 6 knob, and after taking off, adjust trim to obtain level flight. For landings, fly it all the way in using a smidgen of power.

A very nice airplane.
