I Don't know if Dropping the price is a good Idea, you can get the best version of MSFS for $120 but there are cheaper options starting at $60 and it sells like hotcakes. You can get the RealFlight Trainer edition for $40 if you want to start basic and then upgrade that version if you want more.

I wasn't saying they should drop their price I was just going over where people generally draw the line at price just to try something out. By that I mean if you want RF you'll get it where it's sold HH or Steam. Steam is okay I still use it I just prefer a download option but I'll be happy to buy RF 10 on Steam when it comes out. But for now I'll stick with my local copy unless by some magic they update RF 9.5 to a new version of DirectX, but I don't see that happening.

Is the usage numbers you mentioned just for playing on-line or does "just" starting a game on your computer register on that too? Edit: Or are those numbers just how many people have purchased the game/sim?

@csgill75 Thanks for the Steam Usage app. Very interesting comparison of what steam uses are playing and how it compares to other games/sims. I was surprised to see the comparison between RF9.5s and msfs 2020. Then again, the racing sim Assetto Corsa is 2x msfs 2020.

Can you educate us what files you need to transfer and where to put them to keep your add-ons and expansion packs? Do the 7.5+ photo fields also transfer to the new version?
 
Confused, the help centre at Realflight told me to upload 9.5s online,,, but if you have been reading my posts, i am trying to get back to DVD realflight (no steam).

I thought 9.5s was the steam variant (s standing for steam).

Why are they asking me to do an upload for 9.5s?

Perhaps you can have 9.5s WITHOUT steam?

Like the 9.5s upgrade instructions clearly said, once you activate your Steam licence you cannot go back to your old RF licence. Whether or not RF support can help is not clear? Maybe you need to uninstall Steam and/or get rid of the Steam rf9.5s license to do this? Who know? I personally do not have any problems with it on Steam and everything seems to work fine, for me anyway. Always going to be a few that don't like it I guess.
 
My question is,,, is 9.5S specifically for steam?

Can it b edownloaded and run on a pc WITHOUT steam?

I need to know because Custmer Care has said to upload it, butttttttttt i thought i was going to upload 9.5 with updates.

Waiting for reply which are often generic and don't answer a specific question!

I do not want to upload the wrong thing and have problems yet again.

Please, somebody must know?
 
Even the Box version on the HH website is just a coupon for the Steam Version. Steam is the only way forward with Realflight.

if that is the case this will be the last RF i buy , glad i didn't buy 9'5 now
 
Well I will tell you there is not the same security as that activation of the 9.5 itself because I actually bought my copy from a friend and when I want to activate 9.5 online I need his email address and password he used to actually activate it . So really all you need is a real flight 9.5 serial number doesn't even have to be your own just a valid one next time you have everybody's house playing on his 9.5 when you load it up man take a picture of that serial number and you get 9.5 s for free. There's no security like the activation of 9.5 in the key exchange!

Well I know it's on the download page the link isn't directly clickable you have to right click and save link as that was the only way I could download it because just clicking on it would not directly automatically download it I had to right click on it and save link as . Then the download dialogue started I said this item could not be downloaded security and it said either discard or keep I click keep and successfully downloaded both 9 and 9.5
 
So you recommend we steal serial numbers from our friends, if we do that what kind of a friend does that make us.?
Now your friend can not upgrade to RF 9.5s because you stole his legitimate key (serial number)

no i'am not saying steal anything .. i'am just saying seems a major flaw. at least with 9.5 you have some protection even if your serial gets stolen kinda hard to activate without the original password set with the activation. with the 9.,5s key exchange there is no safe gaurd. to protect the $150 dollar investment you already made ... i'am sure there are keygens for serial #s saying it's a easy way for those who don't see a training/learning device to just get free registered program. so say that random keygen brings up your serial . well then the software you already own is now invalid and they more less stole what you purchased that had a safe gaurd for theft built in that's now invalid as soon as you type in a email address to recieve new registration for 9.5s without the security feature included that was there to protect your interest and investment!.. I'm just stating there's a major flaw is all.. why couldn't they include the same database with those passwords for the exchange as they do as of activate your copy on a new system
