E-flite Cherokee 1_3m

E-flite just released an updated version of their Cherokee 1.1m so I thought I would create one. I modeled a larger version in 2020 so I thought I'd rescale it to 1.1m, change the engine to an electric motor, and rework the physics and add AS3X. I just finished reviving my version and made a minor change to it. Here's a picture of what I have now and a picture of the new E-flite version. Next I'm going to create a new color scheme for mine that matches the new E-flite Cherokee 1.1m.

While I was creating the color scheme for the E-flite Cherokee I found an error in the mapping of my original plane, so I went back and fixed it this morning. It turns out the error doesn't cause a problem in my other version, but I wanted to fix it for this version anyway. I still need to update the mapping in the color scheme and spec map, but the mapping is finished. It was a small change so it won't take long to update the color scheme, but right now I want a break. After I finish this change it will be time to rescale it to 1.3 meters and start on the new physics.

I worked on updating the color scheme and spec map with the final mapping but I only got the color scheme done. It turned out to be more time consuming than I thought. But once I get the spec map updated I'll rescale it to 1.3 meters and start on the new physics. But I need to take the wife to Dallas today to see her specialist so I might not work on it much more today. But it's getting there.

I set the part weights and have it flying but I haven't fine tuned the flight physics yet. Right now it's a 4S but I think I'm going to reduce it to 3S, it fly's too fast to me for the type of plane it is. The top speed right now is in the 70's. I tried out an E-flight Cirrus SR22T which had a 3S in it and the top speed was middle 50's, which seems about right for the Cherokee too. So next time I work on it I'll change it to a 3S and see how it goes.

New E-flite Cherokee got me tinkering! Took my old 2020 Cherokee model, shrunk it down, made it electric, and even added fancy AS3X tech. Now I'm cooking up a fresh color scheme to match the new E-flite. Stay tuned for the big reveal! What do you think?

It sounds cool did you release the Cherokee you created in 2020?
