Plug something into the microphone jack of your computer. If it doesn't work then it won't work.

Read the thread I directed you to. The instructions say that you need to plug something into the microphone jack. I don't know why, I don't have this old software myself but if it works for the 2 people in the thread that did it then you should also do it.
