North American P-51 build thread

Did the forums just get a face lift?
Yes, I`ve noticed the format is different, also, when looking at a file that has pictures/images attached to it, .... while looking at the pictures, transitioning from one pic. to the next goes a lot smoother.

Another variation on the RAF theme ...........
Just slapping paint on Lego's P-51A. While this version never wore any colors close to this, she looks like a " Gun Fighter " and when Lego finishes her she'll be a great addition to everyone's P-51 collection. I don't know if Lego has or will look into this, when the A model is finished, most of the work for a scale B&C model will be there in the A model, to have access to all 3 versions would be a real knock out of the park.

I made new exhaust headers. to @U-Bird I am sure you know, but I will say for everyone else I am not making a P-51A/Mustang II/NA-99. I am making a P-51(no variant)/Mustang MK 1a/NA-91, the first of the type ordered by the USAAF. I know the guns are different 4x 50 cal and bomb rack on the A. B, and C variants. the merlin mustang's have different sheet metal on the cowl. a smaller change the B and later had the rad inlet lowered 1.63 inches. other changes include Malcolm hoods although not all planes had them and air inlets for the engine.

I will say I am looking forward to trying my hand at a helicopter.

Looking FANTASTIC Legoman,!!! Just to be clear though, your plane represents a plane/cowling with an Allison engine correct..???, It`s my understanding that the Merlins didn`t get introduced until later. Then, you mention the Malcolm hood, any chance you might do another plane with one..???. Then you mention a heli,, Hell anything you do is great.

Yes it represents a P-51 built from roughly July 1940 to April 1942 basicly P-51's pre A-36A invader and P-51A. So Allison powered, 4x 20mm cannons not 4x or 6x .50 caliber

It depends on how I feel near the end of the build. the last features to be implemented either end up cut, half done, or the build takes a long time. U-Bird had mentioned the B and C models and I would say a very hesitant maybe on B or C models. when I release two EA's of basiclly variant most people grab one or the other and only a few people grab both see F-105 the D model has 17xx and the B model has 11xx and the flying wings the b-35 has nearly double the downloads as the B-49. I watch the download counts on EA's to judge peoples interest. and I notice that rereleases with a different graphical engine have much lower downloads and it there is a third the count is really low

So as much as the scale purest side want to have a scale representation of each variant. the side of me that is doing the work asks is it worth the effort of seeing number go up for the extra effort to make the each variant equal in quality

Thanks for the clarification on engine type, it`s what I thought..... Yeah I understand what you`re saying about the EA`s, they`re kind of like movies, meaning the sequel usually/almost always doesn`t do as good, AND, I can`t tell you how many song remakes that I`ve heard (think 50`s thru 80`s rock etc.) that were/are absolutely horrible, the original has always been better,.... SO, I get what you`re saying, BUT, it`s always a roll of the dice, just like me doing CS`s , is it worth my effort..??? I`ll never know unless I do it. I`ll be finding out pretty soon myself.... ;) ;)

I took some screen shots of my planes with the P-51. I am considering making some video of my older planes any preference on which one(s).

Looks like it's coming along, I've been messing around with panel lines, just for visuals as there are marked differences between the A models and the D models and here's a CS for some to play with. This will work if RF7 thru 9 and maybe RFX if installed as an EA. I had RFX on this system for a while and removed it some time back. The enclosed CS is the "Old Crow" and as The A models were the first of the Mustang Line, the A models would be the OLD CROWS indeed. The Screenshot is no paint just lines and such. This CS requires Lego's P-51 Mk1A test 06_ea and can be found on page 4 of this thread
