We are raising the poly limit for custom models from 20,000 to 27,000.
That means we will be releasing an updated KEmax exporter. Support for art exported using the new plugin will be introduced in the next RealFlight 7 update. It will not be backwards compatible with previous versions of RealFlight.
Both the RF7 update and the new exporter are slated for release this month.
Other things to know:
The new exporter will initially only be available for 3ds Max 2012. A version for Max 2013 & 2014 is planned for sometime in the new year.
As with the current exporter, the new 27,000 poly limit will include collision, glow, and blur frames. If the increase hadn't been possible, we wanted to pursue changing what would count toward it (as discussed elsewhere). But with an increase that large it shouldn't be necessary.
The new exporter will continue to support a single texture. It is still possible for that to change down the road, but I don't consider it very likely--at least in the short or medium term.
We hope you will enjoy the extra headroom.
