Here’s a link to what I’m running. I’m no Guru when it comes to this sort of thing, but there’s nothing much on it except modeling stuff. That’s it’s only purpose.Two things come to mind. One. Some part of the computer overheats and causes a lockup, sometimes RAM will do that. Second. The system runs out of resources and the program can't handle that so it locks up. A fairly common occurrence when you run out of RAM. But those are just guesses based on real problems I've seen.
The renders do look supper though.
To me that system would be inline with what I said, 12 GB isn't a lot of RAM when you're doing heavy rendering work and the GTX660M might not have a good enough heatsink for long complex rendering tasks and cause heat related lockups. What you're seeing happens when people play complex 3d games and either run out of RAM or the GPU overheats (sometimes the CPU overheats too). You might try having a Fan blow on the Laptop while it's Rendering and see if that helps.Here’s a link to what I’m running.
