Request RF6 Aircraft Here

Hi,
Would you be interested in putting this model in RF6? It is David P Andersen's 1/3 scale AA-1C Grumman Lynx. I produced it for flightsim. I can provide you with the Gmax and texture files. I also have the plans in PDF if required.

Regards,
Ron Watson.

I would be willing to help you get this one in the sim. If you are familiar with Skype we could discuss the steps from this point on for any other models you may want to do the same with. I agree with Jeffpn , that you should get the free student version of 3ds max to make this process easier. If your interested just PM me.

Upon further research I now know that Gmax has very limited export options. While there are workarounds none offer a perfect export and none will carry any mapping from gmax to 3ds Max. There are some tutorials but all are pretty outdated and I'm not entirely sure that newer versions of 3ds Max are still capable of the required import workarounds. It looks like this may be a hard nut to crack, but it is possible I think. Once it's in max I could pass it back to you for re mapping and I would be willing to do the rest. If your up for it TZflyer I am too.

Thankyou. I am up for it. That sounds good to me. I have never used Skype and I do not know what PM is. Sorry. Also I did not know that we can get a free version of 3Ds Max. Could you tell me how I can get it? You can contact me through my email.

Autodesk.com to DL the student version. You have to get 2012 or earlier because there is no KEX exporter for 2013 or 214 yet. After installing, you'll have to go into the document folders and install the 32 bit version if you have a 64 bit machine. The kex exporter ONLY works with the 32 bit install.

I have the latest version of 3DS Max and Carrerra 7 Pro. The strange thing is Carrerra 7 Pro is a much cheaper program which I got for free from a "3D Artist" magazine, yet it supports more file import/export types. Post what the file type is and I'll see if I can assist if other can't with Max. I often have to use Carrerra 7 Pro to import files which are corrupted on import into Max. After I export as a .fbx I have no problems bringing it into Max.

Add (do not replace) an .RFX extension to the file and post it here. Nothing that I know of will directly load a GMAX file, so look into formats that GMAX will export.

I try to provide help to get files into RF and that is SPAM.
Get your head out of your SOCIALIST ***!

Wow! New sheriff in town..

We point links to tutorials and resources all the time.
When did that sneak into the rulebook?

Not so new ...I got a similar welcome card from him myself a few months ago:rolleyes: :p

Maybe Jim could clarify this issue. I thought these forums were here to help others out and if we can't post links to tutorials then how is that productive?

His Bell thread has nothing to do with Real Flight, yet it rolls on. And then he gets blasted for providing a helpful link to a user. I don't get it. The forums were much better moderated 15 months ago than they are now.

Not sure Jeff, I did run across one on youtube, it appeared to be a scratch built plane though. Here are specs on the real plane, I`m thinking along the lines of using the same physics as the "bulldog", I`m still searching for info:D

I wouldn't know what to do with real plane specs. ;) in the link you provided, I did see a plastic model, I think. I just want something basic to reference, without too many details.

I figured they would`nt be much help.In the first link of the 3 view, click out of that pic., that will put you on the main page. There are pics of renders that another person has done, if that will help. (assuming you have not done so already). Here is another 3 view. I`ll see what else I can find;)
