On my new download RF evolution when I press the ESC button on my keyboard to show the new menu a error message pops up asking if I want to report it,
yes or no, pressing either button then closes RF down, any help would be grateful, I have enclosed details of my desktop below.

It is a problem with your video card driver. Radeon distributed ones that were incompatible with Windows DX9 that RF uses. They have apparently fixed that for some of their models. Do a bit of searching here to see if yours has been fixed.

Hi Flapper
Thanks for the info, I have updated the drivers on my computer as advised in your last link but it still closes evolution when i press ESC to to access the new menu. every thing else is working ok on evolution and RF 9.5 apart from this problem.

What controller are you using.? Interlink, Interlink DX?, If it is the DX then try connecting it with a USB Hub.

I am using the older Interlink Plus controller
It might be an issue with that controller and compatibility. I would use the mouse instead and move it to the left of the screen until the selection menu slides out and then pick the options you want. Also I would enable the legacy menus found in all other versions of RF for ease of use and forget the new menu system entirely like Others and I have already done. Press the ~ key when you are in RF to get the console, and type showlegacymenu exactly like I posted, and then press enter. It will now be like any other version of RF at this point where you can use the menu at the top and menu at the side to select what you want to do.

Thanks for that csgill75, Yes I have done that and got the legacy menu showing now plus the menu to the left, I have updated my display drivers, uninstalled and re installed RF evolution and still can not get the new menu up when I press the ESC button it just comes up with a error message and when I click on the send info to the makers button, it shuts evolution down. Apart from that my controller is working ok with RF9.5s and evolution so I will just do as you say and stick with the legacy menu and the one at the left side. The only problem I have now is when I am on Evolution I have a message telling me to ( press the ESC button on my keyboard or the cancel button on my controller ) and I Don't know how to get rid of it. I think I will just stick with RF 9.5s instead.
Thanks again for the info.

Yeah, I started to get the "how to" menu prompt all the time too, even though I only use the legacy menu. Another to-do - see if there is a way to disable it.

Yes, you can disable that just like you can bring back the legacy menu bar.

Open the command console with ` or ~, and then enter "showmenunotification"

That will toggle the on/off state of the notification each time you do it. So if you just do it once, it will change to off and stay that way.

Thank you! Nice that was an option.
That is almost as great as "kablooey" or "showmethemoney"
(The first makes your plane go up in flames when you crash. The second tells you how much repairs cost when you reset after a crash)

Thank you, cleared that message ok.
