Upgrading from Trainer edition to Evolution and Radios

Hi Gang, I am a total newbie to both RC and Simulators, so pardon my lack of knowledge in these areas. I have two questions. First a little background on my situation. I had purchased from Hobby Zone the "Ready to Fly" Sport Cub 2 and it came with the MLP6DSM controller and the trial version of Real Flight Trainer addition. I am also in the process of building another Trainer so I can get to know the mechanics and electronics of RC fixed wing aircraft and I had purchased the FlySky FS-i6x controller along with the FlySky Simulator cable (FS-SM100). Now my questions are;

1) will my RTF radio, the MLP6DSM work if I upgrade to Evolution? I have tried it in RF9 and the sticks are backwards. I am sure it is set to mode 2 because it works flawlessly with the trainer addition. So that worries me if I upgrade to Evolution. What can I do to make it compatible if I upgrade?

2) how can I get my Fly Sky controller work in the Trainer Addition, RF9 and Evolution (if needed)? the Sticks are backward in the Trainer addition and RF9. I have confirmed my sticks are in Mode 2 and I did the calibration for both radios.
Thank you for all of your help and excuse my ignorance. Ron

For #1, you could go into the Controller Profile in RF9 and make whatever adjustments are necessary to get the sticks straightened out. If you get it working there, it will work in Evolution too but you may need to repeat those adjustments in Evolution.

For #2, I found another thread here that leads to information about the FS-i6x and the SM100.

To save yourself a lot of frustration with trying to make things work, I'd recommend buying the InterLink DX controller that's made for RealFlight. It's extra money that you probably didn't plan to spend, but it just plugs in and works. (It's a better deal if you buy it in the bundle with Evolution. It's more expensive by itself now.) Every switch and button on the InterLink DX does something useful in RF, so as you start playing with models that have more advanced features such as flaps, landing gear retracts, receiver flight modes, and so on, you won't have to think about your controller and everything does what it's supposed to do.

I have a writeup here about using your own controller with RF and what the Controller Profile does. If that sounds too involved - and it often does if you're not familiar with programming RC radios - then you'll be better off with the InterLink DX.

@flightengr, WOW, thank you for all of the information you have given me. I have downloaded your dissertation and printed it out, thanks a million. I am the type of guy that doesn't mind a challenge, especially when steered in the right direction. I feel the more I know how to do things, the better I will be at the hobby. Thank you again. Ron
