Saab JAS-39C GRIPEN
This aircraft has some neat features. There is a dilating thrust nozzle which moves automatically with increasing or decreasing the throttle. The nozzle also goes to the full open position when the afterburner kicks in (and is held at) the full throttle position. Other thrusters have been added to give an enhanced sound of the afterburner rumbling.
The HUD also features animated arrows which move with the aid of AFS gyros. All characters in the HUD glow once the sun drops down enough on the horizon.
Various modifications for RF 7.5 to get good model flight performance. Engine parameters are at JetCat P200-SX specifications, but with a bit of extra thrust added for good measure.
Typical flight controls.
As usual fly with the channel 5 rate switch in the “High” position.
CH6 = Knob - Leading Edge Spoilers for landing
CH7 = Landing Gear
CH8 = 3 Position Switch – Fly with the switch in the position farthest from you. The middle position engages the air brakes. The position closest to you engages the canard brakes for super short stopping distance (eg for carrier landings).
For good landing results, when approaching the air strip, engage the ch 6 leading edge spoilers followed by the ch 8 air brakes (middle position) followed by lowering the landing gear.
This is a superb jet model. Flies quite well. Does nice flared landings. A nice addition for your RealFlight hangar.
