Modelled here is an easy-to-fly single turbine variant of the 1976 Bi-Centennial Thunderbirds' T-38, originally an EA by Doug Kaye (DHK79) then edited by Doug Schluter who uploaded his variant as T-38 Thunderbird Turbine2_AV.

The original model was an entry in George Miller's Design Contest of 2008.

Here Doug Schluter's AV of Doug Kaye's model of theT-38 has been reduced to 55% to give a wingspan of 1.6m and a take-off weight of 8.5kg. The single 100N turbine gives this model a very healthy thrust to weight ratio of 1.2 to 1 at take-off, increasing to 1.4 to 1 as fuel is consumed. The 1.75 litre fuel tank will keepthe model up for between 6 and 10 mins, depending upon how you fly it.

Although it can 'tear-up the strip' at more than 250 kph,she is easy to fly and the dry wing loading of 100 g/dm^2 makes landing her easy too, without too much 'float'.

Thanks to Doug Kaye (DHK79) and Doug Schluter for all their work on a fisrt-class EA and AV respectively.

Keep up the excellent work, we all appreciate it!
