Making VTOL Plane in RealFlight

Hello Everyone!

I am new to RealFlight and need help to make an VTOL in RealFlight. I went through the RealFlight menu but couldn't find any design extension where I can make a Custom VTOL UAV. I am familiar with X-Plane where we can design any aircraft using X-plane's "Plane Maker" or Blender or other available design softwares. Can anyone guide me how to do same in RealFlight as well, I have the 3D CAD model available with me. Is there any tool available within RealFlight or any other software that can be used for the modelling purpose?. Any suggestion will be helpful.

most any 3d modeling software with FBX export compatibly will work. a few people here still use 3dsmax, a few others use blender, and one or two other use other software.

some parts of rf have change since this tutorial was written for the most part it is correct.

here is the list of offical tutorials the blender one is obsolete and we dont use the kemax plugin anymore it is bulit into rf.

@legoman , The above links of the tutorial pages do not work anymore, "https://forums.realflight.com/KEmax/plane_tutorial.php".
I don't know if they are temporarily or permanently unavailable.
Do you know where I can download the KEMAX Toolkit - RF7 for 3DStudio Max 2012?

Could you please explain why you don't use the kemax plugin anymore? What is the alternative path for exporting a model for RealFlight?
If you could provide some information on what has changed since the above tutorials were written, it would be so useful.

I'm with you on this one. I have a model that i want to export to realflight and I'm currently facing issues with the kemax plugins. Im also using a trial version of 3ds max 2025

You mentioned you are using 3dsmax 2025, Ryan Douglas (administrator) says that any of the later versions of 3dsmax (after 2021) may need some adjustments to the imported model, particularly in parts that rotate (gear doors) and paint work, here are some examples of paint reflection/gloss on an imported model.
RF9 imported models appear okay with no issues, (pic named RF9 import) but RFE imports can have paint issues as can be seen in pic named (RF Evolution Import), left and right wings are glossy and darker shade of yellow, but it is easy to fix, use the ResetXForm procedure.
Select the part (left wing in this instance), you might need to unparent the part (but I did not do that for this paint issue), select ResetXForm and click "Reset Selected" next go to the modifier list and select "Edit Normals" drag a selection box over the affected part and notice the normals turn from blue to red, select the reset tab, and now right click on a blank area next to the model, select, "Convert To", Convert to Editable Poly. Done, now as you can see the wing has no gloss or shading problems. (pic named RF Evolution ResetXForm).
