Fairchild PT-19

I finished the canopy but I haven't mapped it yet. But I wanted to get you guys opinion on it before I go any further. Does it look okay? And is the scale look correct? I modeled it against a PT-19 plan that also showed the PT-26 canopy but I thought I'd run it by you guys before I map it.

Here's the correct color scheme.

Run with it, looks fine. Are you going to make the canopy function ??

I'm convinced there's a conspiracy to keep me from mapping the canopy :) I was going to do that this morning, but you guessed it, I found something I needed to tweak. Tweaknoid is at it again. The problem is when you're working in the editor you're so close you see stuff you'd never see in Realflight. But when I do I have to fix it. And of course after fixing it I don't feel like mapping it. My short work span is expired. But I'll get back to it soon.

I can't believe how short my work cycles are now. I created a new file to map the canopy in and applied the special modifier needed to map it, so now it's setup to map. But that was it I couldn't bring myself to go ahead and map that little part. But you also need to create a new mask for the color scheme and then update the color scheme and spec map with the new mapping. And then paint the new parts. So I guess that's for next time I work on it.

PT-19_EA 48 downloads
PT-19_EP_EA 25 downloads

So I wonder how many downloads the PT-26 will get.

I mapped the canopy and updated the color scheme, spec map, and normal map. I still have to finish the black area at the back of the canopy but after that it should be finished. The odd part is I didn't care much for the PT-26 with the canopy I always liked the PT-19 better. But I have to admit I think it looks really nice.

I just finished filling the back part of the fuselage inside the canopy with black, so I thought I was done. But when I checked it in RF I found a crossover from the PT-19 I need to remove, so I'm not quite finished. But I'm in no hurry to release it. So one more thing to do. I can't decide if I want to release it in 4-Stroke and EP versions. I guess both since the PT-19 has both.

I like both versions of course. The PT-26 looks more modern to me, because of the canopy. Open cockpit was a throwback to the early days of airplanes and all the modern planes of the same era (WWII) had enclosed cockpits with canopies. It was meant for the frozen winters to allow them to keep training pilots but it just looks good imho. And for the painters there may be some interesting PT-26 schemes.

Yeah, it's funny. I always liked the PT-19 better but having done a PT-26 model I'm starting to change my mind. That canopy and the entire yellow color scheme looks really good to me.
