Galloping Ghost EP

Looking at the images above, I get the feeling that the plane is too long. There engine and space between wing and tail seems long to me. Is it an incorrect aspect ratio of the picture?

I'm not sure what you're seeing. When I had the side view of the scale plan in 3ds max the fuselage fit fine and the engine exhaust is sized and placed correctly on my plane from the plans. It is a Fun Fly version so the vstab will look different with the larger rudder. But I just moved the hinge line forward to make the rudder larger so the overall shape and size of the vstab should be pretty much the same.

EDIT: I forgot something concerning the modification to the vstab. Like I said I moved the rudder hinge line forward to give me more rudder authority but kept the overall width of the vstab the same. BUT.. because the hinge line was moved forward I had to slide the entire vstab back far enough to realign the hinge line with the end of the fuselage, which will make the plane a little longer because of the extra width of the rudder. Anyway, I thought I should point that out. I did a similar thing to the hstab to get more elevator authority.

@uncle twist Take a look at this and see if you like it better. I went back to the real plane sizing for "The Galloping Ghost" text. By that I mean "The Galloping" part of the text is sized to fit the width of the exhaust, and I also made the text taller so it should look closer to the real plane.

I have to take the wife to her specialist in Dallas so I'll be gone most of the day. I'll check back this afternoon.

It may be possible that because the GG does not have the bottom radiator scoop, so visually it makes it look longer. Plus, the canopy is much lower in height. 🤔 I could be wrong.

I added the decals to the right side and the top and bottom wings. Here's a couple of shots in RealFlight. I haven't created a spec map yet so it will get a little gloss when I do that. Plus I need to finalize the physics too.

Okay, here's a beta for you to play with. Please give it a good look and let me know anything you think should be changed/fixed. I did leave a couple of things off that looking back I should have kept so if you see something missing let me know and I'll let you know if it's the things I left off. I definitely need your input on this one, thanks.

Controls Set for InterLink Elite

BRAKES: Up Elevator
FLAPS: Channel 6 Knob
SMOKE: Channel 8 3 Pos. Switch Forward (away from you)

Thanks Tech. It flies very nice and love how clean and sleek it looks. Is one of the things you left off the separation of flap and ailerons? Full length flaperons. (y) And what happened to the prop it had in some of the posts? One thing I did notice on the prop you had made for it, but I didn't want to be critical, but you are asking now is. It looked like it had high pitch at the hub, lower pitch mid blade then high pitch at the tip. See pic at Post#233. Then look at post#224 where it looks like high pitch at hub and tapers to lower pitch at tip. Most props have a twist from high at hub to low at the tip. It tracks very very good. In a loop it just carves the same groove I like that. It hovers pretty good. And you put the smoke at the tail instead of exhaust I kinda like that. This is going to be a really fun plane, heck it already is. ;) Thanks for letting us try it out. I defiantly want this one in my hanger!

Yes, one of the things I left off is the separate aileron/flaps. When I created the aileron/flaps picture I posted on the build thread it was a temporary file so I needed to go back and add them to the main file, which I never did. Then when it was time to start mapping for some reason I didn't like them that much so I didn't add them. I didn't care for the aileron/flaps because they were on a Fly Fly wing with wide ailerons so adding the aileron/flaps looked too wide to me so I left them off. The other thing I left off is a retractable canopy because I didn't like the way the smoothing groups looked different for the two pieces. Then when I did the color scheme I added an outline where the edge of the canopy was so I could have left the retractable canopy because the outline would have broke-up the odd separate smoothing group look.

Now for the prop I'm not sure what you mean about post #224 that has lots of pictures posted by uncle twist, so what picture are you talking about? But I think if you'll look at the center blade in post #233 you should see the blade doesn't have any twist so the pitch should be the same from the hub to the tip. I'll have to go back and look to be sure but that's the way I remember doing it. I forgot about the twist when I made my props so none of them so far has it. (sorry)

Tech. on post#193 you put a great YouTube link out, and a ways down in it there was a vid on making prop blades I thought was very interesting. I thanked you for putting it out because it was quite fascinating.

On The pic above it seems the blade has a twist. This is the image I was referring to. Thanks Tech.
Okay, thanks. But you need to remember those 3 pictures are drawings so you can't really go by them. I'm not saying the prop outline isn't correct just that it's a drawing and not the real thing. I do know the blade should have a twist in it I just messed up and didn't put one in any of the props I've made so far. I just forgot about the twist when I modeled the props. (my bad)

Oh. You ask about why the new prop I made wasn't on the plane (I think). I never finished that prop I still needed to tweak the shape a little and also I needed to rework the blade collision mesh for the new shape. I started with one of my other props and reshaped it but never finished it. Plus there doesn't seem to be a way to make the prop shiny like the plane so that put me off since the silver tips were so dull.

I downloaded those videos and watched them to learn how to make a prop. But I forgot about the twist when I modeled my props. I'm just an old dummy. This is the kind of stuff that makes me say my planes are just so-so.
